Chicago Bulls: Potential lineups thanks to free agency
By Ryan Heckman
Closing out quarters 1-through-3
It always depends on the situation, of course. But, let’s think of this lineup as a group which will close out the first three quarters if all is going according to plan (which it might not for the Bulls, but that’s besides the point).
More from Da Windy City
- Juan Soto appears headed to the Yankees which is not a big blow Chicago Cubs offseason
- 3 takeaways from Chicago Blackhawks shootout loss to Nashville
- Chicago Cubs in the middle of chaos that is Shohei Ohtani’s free agency
- The Chicago Cubs are on a roller coaster of emotions chasing Shohei Ohtani
- Chicago Bears quietly compiling list of head coaching candidates
Who do you want on the floor when you want to get a good mix of defenders and scorers, but don’t want to risk a costly foul to somebody who will help you in crunch time (i.e. LaVine as a scorer or Carter holding down the paint)?
This is what comes to mind when taking those risks into consideration:
PG: White
SG: Porter
SF: Young
PF: Markkanen
C: Gafford
White, Young and Gafford are good enough defenders to hold it down on that end. But, you also have the scoring capability of Porter and Markkanen if the team needs someone to hit an open shot. Heck, Young has a strong jump shot, too.
When I think about the Bulls going down to the wire late in the fourth quarter, I want LaVine and Carter on the floor, without a doubt. I’d also want the experience of Satoransky running the offense during the closing seconds of a game. At that point, Gafford and White can come out. I could see Boylen experimenting with leaving Young in the game late in games, though.
