Re-signing Arcidiacono seals Dunn’s fate

One of the moves Chicago made after signing a pair of free agents is retaining their own in Ryan Arcidiacono. Now that they have locked him down on a 3-year, $9 million deal, that gives them four point guards on the roster.

With drafting White, trading for Satoransky and committing to Arcidiacono, that tells me more than anything that Kris Dunn is officially no longer part of the plan for this team’s future. Arcidiacono is definitely more of a third string, if you will, but the fact that the organization likes him enough to commit to three years means they have to like him more than Dunn.

Already, the Bulls have been exploring deals for Dunn this offseason. This marks the second time we’ve heard of such a report this year, too.

At this stage, if the Bulls can get anything in return for Dunn, it should be noted as a win. The trade market looked bleak for Dunn earlier in the year, and after free agency I doubt it has changed all that much.

Arcidiacono gives the Bulls a decent three-point shooter and average defender who could give them a handful of minutes each night. He does also have some significant experience from last year when the Bulls became thin at point guard.
