The Chicago Bulls are heading into year three of a rebuild. With the roster beginning to take shape, what does the future hold for Zach LaVine?

The Chicago Bulls have had a busy offseason. The front office was able to add two veteran players to help develop the young core.  They also added on two rookies via the NBA Draft. The roster is starting to improve, but when will the Bulls return to contention? It might be soon.

The NBA is a star-driven league. In order to have success, a team needs to be in possession of one or two stars. The Toronto Raptors were led by Kawhi Leonard and a combination of young talent and veteran leadership.

The Golden State Warriors managed to win three championships in five attempts led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. Not to mention Kevin Durant, who helped the Warriors in 2017 and 2018.

The Bulls do not possess the necessary star talent that will take them to the promised land. They have unproven talent, that has shown in spurts the potential that they possess. With recent injuries to Zach LaVine, Wendell Carter, and Lauri Markkanen in the past few seasons, it is too early to determine what they can become.

If the talent evolves into what the front office and Bulls fans hope, then the next move is to find the star that can coexist with the young core. If the Bulls have to make a trade, then it might have to include LaVine.

LaVine will be a valuable trade asset for when the Bulls are ready to make a move for a star. Obviously, the Bulls might not have to move him if they have the cap space in two years. If the Bulls fail to sign a big name free agent, however, then it has to be done through a trade.

The Bulls at that time will have the necessary bench depth that they have lacked ever since the demise of the bench mob. With that, they would have the necessary trade pieces to include in a  LaVine deal. Who would the Bulls go after? Whoever happens to be the target, the Bulls should prepare to include LaVine in a trade package for when the time comes.
