Chicago White Sox: Series win vs. Twins leaves them feeling confident
The Chicago White Sox had a tough swing of games here in June and they handled it as well as possible with all things considered.
The Chicago White Sox just finished a really tough stretch of baseball for a team like them. They are in the next step of a rebuild and man do they look promising. They are probably going to come up short of a wild card berth this season, but they are turning heads as far as what they can be in 2020 and beyond.
They just went 7-8 over a really tough 15 game stretch. The stretch included the Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins. All of these teams are over .500 baseball teams and have hopes of making it to the postseason. Three of the five teams lead their division as well. This is probably the toughest stretch of the season for the White Sox and a 7-8 record in that span is something to be happy about.
If this was three years from now going 7-8 over any stretch might be annoying, but this time around it is awesome. They are taking steps in the right direction, and with that tough of a schedule they could have easily gone 5-10 or 4-11 over it. That is what a bad baseball team would do, but the White Sox are no longer a bad baseball team.
Their series vs the Twins saw them play portions of it without Tim Anderson who has arguably been their most consistent hitter so far this season. They still won two of the three and can now feel good about themselves as they get ready to host the Detroit Tigers. At 27-52 the Tigers are having a rough go of it lately, and they will likely see them as a much lighter team compared to those of the last 15 games.
They can’t make the mistake of thinking just because the Tigers stink that they are guaranteed to win because if they do, they will get swept. The White Sox called up their top pitching prospect Dylan Cease to the big leagues and he will make his MLB Debut in game one of Wednesday’s double header. This is such an exciting time to be a fan of this team. This Twins series went great and now they can feel so good about themselves going into the 4th of July series.
It is this series vs the Tigers and then the Chicago Cubs come to visit Guaranteed Rate Field to end the pre All-Star break portion of the schedule. It is a great time to be a White Sox fan!!
