2. He wanted to be a Bull and believes in the organization

Let’s get one thing straight: Young has been a starting forward over the last nine seasons of his career. He isn’t aging drastically and continues to play strong ball. So, why would he come to Chicago if he will likely be relegated to a bench role?

More from Da Windy City

Lauri Markkanen isn’t going anywhere. He’s locked in at the starting power forward position. The Bulls traded for Otto Porter last season and are paying him the most out of any current player, so his role as the starting small forward is set. Also as of now, I don’t see Wendell Carter taking a seat anytime soon and Young is too small to play the center position, of course.

One thing is for certain, and that is Young wanted to be in Chicago. If the Bulls were able to get a deal done that quickly, Young had to have a belief in what players the Bulls already had in place. Money talks, but I wonder just how much talking the cash did in this instance. He could have gone elsewhere on a similar deal (maybe a little less) and had a much better shot at winning.

Young is known to be a valuable teammate in the locker room. He’s a standup individual who brings high character, and his presence will be one of a big impact with the Bulls. As hilarious as it might sound, Young very well may have been motivated by changing the culture within the organization and I am certain he will play a big role in doing just that.
