Chicago Bears: Current players that aren’t going anywhere
By Ryan Heckman
Running Back Tarik Cohen
In today’s NFL, most would agree that running backs are no longer a premier position. They are no longer worth the long-term commitments and big-time money. Outside of guys like Ezekiel Elliott, Saquon Barkley and Melvin Gordon (give or take a couple others), there aren’t too many running backs you can count on to be the bell cow of the offense.

Thankfully, Tarik Cohen doesn’t have to be that kind of running back. But, what he offers the Bears is incredibly unique. Over the past several years, only a few guys come to mind when you think about Cohen’s skillset. Darren Sproles is the number one name many think of when analyzing this type of player.
Cohen is lightning fast, agile as anybody and nearly impossible to tackle in space. He catches the football and returns punts. In the open field, the Bears haven’t seen a player like Cohen since Devin Hester.
Speaking of fan favorites like Hicks, Cohen is that same type of individual. His personality is one which ignites the team and brings a lot of fun to the locker room. The dancing and hilarious antics are an added bonus, but Cohen truly is a guy I see staying in Chicago for years to come.
He won’t get worn out by being loaded with touches, keeping his career intact for much longer than the average back. Cohen is an indispensable part of the offense, and an indispensable part of Chicago.
