Defensive End Akiem Hicks

To this day, Bears fans cannot believe that two separate franchises have allowed Akiem Hicks to leave town. Both the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots decided not to secure Hicks to a long-term deal once upon a time, and his arrival in Chicago became the launchpad to bigger and better things.

Ever since becoming a Bear, Hicks has exemplified what it means to play Chicago defense. His intensity and physicality is second to none within that group. I don’t know if there is a more underrated defensive lineman in all of football over the last four seasons than Hicks. By now, he should have two or three Pro Bowls under his belt.

Overall, his personality and leadership have proven to be two of his best qualities. He is a man of the people, which fans appreciate more than he knows. His ability to engage with fans and give his time to the community is commendable.

Production is king in the NFL, and if Hicks’ ascension is any indication, he won’t be going anywhere, anytime soon. Whether it be quarterback pressures or run stops, Hicks is one of the very best in the game. He’s multidimensional as an end and plays both aspects at an elite level.
