Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks had an interesting draft. They won the third lottery spot and moved up from the 12th pick to the 3rd pick in the draft, which is an incredibly lucky moment in team history. It was important that they get a really good player and they have. They didn’t get what most would say is the third best player in the draft, but Kirby Dach‘s talent cannot be ignored.

He currently plays for the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League. In 2018-19 he had 25 goals and 48 assists for 73 points in 62 games. Those are awesome numbers for a WHL forward and he absolutely deserved to be a high profile prospect. This might have not been the best pick available for the Blackhawks and that will lower their grade, but there is no doubting that this player will be a really good one for the Blackhawks one day.

The Blackhawks may have struck gold in the second round when defensive defenseman Alex Vlasic fell to them at pick 43. The United States National Development Program product will likely be an NHL defenseman someday and it was an awesome pick by the Blackhawks in this draft. The rest of their draft went well with prospects like Antti Saarela and Dominic Basse being added, so that is good news.
