Chicago Bulls: Pro comparisons for 2019 NBA Draft picks
Round One, Pick 7: Coby White
Pro Player Comparison: De’Aaron Fox
The Bulls picked the best point guard available with the seventh overall pick, selecting North Carolina point guard Coby White.
White is one of the more explosive players in the draft, excelling in the fast-break game and with his pull-up shooting ability.

Additionally, White is the fastest player in the draft, running the fastest at the NBA Draft Combine, and showcasing his blazing speed with highlight-reel plays throughout the season at North Carolina.
Given his combination of speed, spot-up shooting, and explosiveness, the perfect comparison for White is Sacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox.
Fox, who is entering his third year in the NBA, was draft fifth-overall in the 2017 draft out of Kentucky. Like White, Fox was viewed as the fastest player in the draft, with major plusses in the big-play making department as well as in his pull-up shooting.
Also, like White, Fox’s biggest problem is his turnovers. White averaged three turnovers per game at UNC, partially due to lapses in decision-making on fast breaks. Three turnovers per game is an issue, but if White can learn to slow his game down at times, those turnovers should quickly evaporate.
Comparing White to Fox might be low-balling it, but I view White as a De’Aaron Fox-type player, only with a better jump shot. Drafting a player as explosive and a high-octane as White at seven is a big steal and if he can turn into a better version of Fox, then the Bulls could certainly have a future All-Star at point guard in Coby White.
Speed and jump shooting are two of the biggest traits for point guards and White excels in both. This pick should be a huge win for the Bulls now, next year, and in ten years.
