The Chicago Bulls had a widely successful 2019 NBA Draft, picking up a pair of young players in the first and second rounds. Here are player comparisons for both of the Bulls draft picks.

If there was a best-case scenario for the Chicago Bulls standing pat at pick number seven, it happened last night.

The Bulls, amidst all of the movement ahead of them in the top ten, stuck with their draft pick and landed the best overall player available, North Carolina point guard Coby White.

White was connected to the Bulls throughout the entire draft process and was the third-ranked point guard in the draft. There were serious rumors that White could be gone by the time the Bulls were to pick, but he miraculously remained until the seventh pick, where the Bulls made him their first-round selection.

White fills the Bulls biggest need at the point guard position while giving them yet another draft pick with a sky-high ceiling. White should easily become a piece of the Bulls young core and should make an immediate impact from day one.

In the second round, the Bulls added depth, selecting Arkansas big man Daniel Gafford. Gafford had first-round grades throughout the 2018-19 College Basketball season but slipped in the draft due to a plethora of late-rising big men.

Ultimately, between White and Gafford, the 2019 Draft was a huge success for the Bulls. They added both immediate impact and future production, while not giving up any assets to move up or around in the draft.

One of the most fun things to do around draft time is to compare prospects to current or former NBA players. Professional player comparisons give fans a sense of what they will be getting in their new picks, while also providing excitement around unproven players before they have even stepped on the court.

While these comparisons never come to fruition, it is fun to use them as a measuring stick for both production and future outlook. Comparing rookies and veterans is like comparing apples and oranges, but it is still fun nonetheless.
