Chicago Blackhawks: Anders Lee would be an excellent addition
The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to add some depth to their forward group, and the Islander captain might be an awesome fit.
The Chicago Blackhawks are going to probably be linked to a couple of free agent forwards over the free agency period until they sign one or two of them. They are looking to get back to the playoffs after missing for two consecutive years and make another run with their core.
Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith, and Corey Crawford aren’t getting any younger so they only have a few years left with these guys. They need to make the best of those years and New York Islanders captain Anders Lee might be a great fit for the Chicago Blackhawks.
Lee was named the captain of the Islanders after their former captain John Tavares left them in free agency to join the Toronto Maple Leafs. Lee has been an awesome player for them for a few years now. He is an unrestricted free agent as of July 1st.
On a defensive Islanders team, he had an impressive 28 goals and 23 assists for 51 points in 82 games played. The year before that, on a run and gun Islanders team, he had a whopping 40 goals and 22 assists for 62 points in 82 games. The offensive talent is there, and if he came to Chicago you could probably expect something in the middle of those two years.
He would make an impact on the power play too because it would be adding another goal scorer to a team full of playmakers. This would be a move that could impact all three of their top lines because it is a really good player that could slide a few guys down in the lineup.
They traded Dominik Kahun to the Pittsburgh Penguins a few days ago and he played in all 82 games last year, so that is another forward to replace as well.
Lee would be a solid addition to the Blackhawks so if both parties were interested that would be fun to see happen. He might be able to score a few more goals in Chicago’s system and they would love what he brings to the table.
