The Chicago White Sox are calling up one of their top prospects and just another one in a long list. This is awesome times.

The Chicago White Sox are going to make a move that we have been waiting to see happen for a very long time. They are calling up a former first-round pick, Zach Collins. Collins is a catcher that has worked his way up the White Sox farm system.

The White Sox have James McCann and Wellington Castillo on their roster but Castillo left Sunday’s game against the New York Yankees with a lower back injury. Collins would come in and share duties with McCann, who is having an all-star worthy season so far. This is yet another exciting move for a team that has been slowly but surely bringing up their young prospects that have been so heavily coveted for all these years now. Eloy Jimenez, Yoan Moncada, and Lucas Giolito amongst others have all come up, and the addition of Collins is another exciting addition.

In 48 games for AAA Charlotte this season, he has a slash line of .258/.382/.497. He has 9 home runs, 38 RBIs, and 33 runs scored. These are awesome numbers for a catcher in AAA and now he will come to the White Sox looking to keep it going. He will be surrounded by guys who have been in his position so the pressure will be well handled.

In 1350 minor league plate appearances, he has 262 walks which is at about a 19% rate. This means he has a really good eye and can draw walks at an elite rate. On the other hand, he had 399 strikeouts in those 1350 which is about 30%. He will strikeout when he gets to the majors, but that is okay.

He is going to take some time but when he gets there he will be a great middle of the order bat one day. He is part of the long term plans and will be a part of this team going forward. This is yet another bit of fun news for Sox fans who should be excited.
