3. Acquire Mike Conley from the Memphis Grizzlies

Finally, the Bulls address their point guard need with a big trade.

The Memphis Grizzlies hold the second-overall pick in next week’s NBA Draft and are fully expected to be taking Murray State point guard Ja Morant. Morant is a bonafide superstar and is a no-doubt pick for the Grizzlies.

However, that pick leaves Mike Conley, the Grizzlies franchise point guard, without a position on the team.

I would say it is just about a guarantee that the Grizzlies are going to move Conley this summer, preferably before the NBA draft. While this trade does not include any of the Bulls’ picks this year, it would include a future draft pick.

In return for Conley, the Grizzlies would get Zach Lavine and next year’s first-round pick from the Bulls. LaVine would fit the Grizzlies’ need for a shooting guard and the Grizzlies have the money to take on LaVine’s big contract.

Meanwhile, the Bulls would be able to get rid of LaVine, who has been on the trade market for a while now, while bringing back a franchise point guard in Conley. By keeping their first-round pick, the Bulls would then be able to draft a shooting guard in the first round of the draft as LaVine’s replacement, filling their lineup for next season.

The Bulls have not been rumored to have any interest in Conley (yet), but they have the means and the needs to go after him. Getting a franchise point guard would be a big plus for the Bulls this offseason and this trade gets that done.
