Chicago Bulls: Free agents to target from the 2019 NBA Finals
By Ryan Heckman
Guard Patrick McCaw — Restricted
In terms of the more realistic guys the Bulls could go after out of the free agents in this year’s Finals, Patrick McCaw is closer than the aforementioned three. He is, of course, restricted. But, we’ll have to see what the Raptors’ plans are this summer.
It is a bit funny that McCaw started his NBA career three years ago with the Warriors, and has since then played for both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Raptors. He’s been around a couple of championship teams during the course of his young career. That, alone, sure helps.
Beyond championship experience, McCaw brings a defensive intensity. That’s his staple. He isn’t going to blow you away offensively by any means, and is not the most consistent three-point shooter. Toronto has used him, for the most part, as a defensive tool to spell both Green and Leonard this season.
For the Bulls, I see McCaw being someone Jim Boylen would like to bring in. Not only would he be cheap, but youthful and defensive-minded.
