Chicago Bulls: Potential Draft Day trades with lottery teams
By Ryan Heckman
Could the Chicago Bulls make a move on draft night? We weigh some options.
This offseason has not gone quite according to plan for the Chicago Bulls. Once again, it felt like the Bulls attempted to tank the season away at times for the second year in a row. But, they didn’t exactly do it to the fullest extent.
It may sound hilarious, but after watching this team lose a few games in a row and assume the tank was in full effect, I’d see them win a game while looking like an ultra-competitive ball club. I’d proceed to laugh, throw my hands up, and wonder what in the world the plan was. Did the organization want to win? Did they want to lose enough to not get caught in the whole tanking thing again?
It was confusing, to say the least.
In the end, this year’s NBA Draft Lottery saw the Bulls fall flat on their face. For the third straight year, it looks as though the Bulls will be selecting a player at no.7 overall. After finishing with the league’s fourth-worst record, Chicago fell three spots to no. 7.
The alternative is, of course, to trade the pick. Whether the Bulls chose to move up or down, then, is the question. We know, by now, the team’s major need going into the offseason — we’ll get to that later.
But, if the Bulls did end up making a deal on draft night, what could it be? Which teams would be the ideal trade partners? I did a little digging around, and came up with four potential trade scenarios for the Bulls and the 2019 NBA Draft. Let’s get into it.
