Chicago White Sox: Dominated by the Minnesota Twins
The Chicago White Sox went to Minnesota with some momentum after playing well in the latter half of the Astros series but they couldn’t get it done.
The Chicago White Sox had a terrible series in Minneapolis against the Minnesota Twins. This is after a semi-strong showing in Texas against a World Series favorite in the Houston Astros. They weren’t able to bring the great play to the twin cities and get it done.
The Twins swept the three-game series against the White Sox and they really dominated for most of it. Every game was a route as they were outscored in the series 26-5. The Minnesota Twins are a very good baseball team and they hit a large number of home runs, but the White Sox couldn’t compete with these guys in any capacity this weekend.
Nobody is expecting the 2019 White Sox to really do much winning as far as making the playoffs, but this team is expected to improve on the previous two years in which they started a full-on rebuild. That has happened so far this year to an extent, but being swept by the Minnesota Twins is unacceptable. Especially when it was in such a dominating fashion.
We understand that the Twins might be on their way to winning the American League Central but the White Sox need to at least be in the same league as these guys. They aren’t far off as a franchise and we understand that, but it would be better to play them like they played the Astros. Not every series is going to go your way so now it is time to just move on.
The White Sox are coming home for a three-game series with the lowly Kansas City Royals. The Royals are a team that the White Sox can create some good habits against. The Royals could be destined for another bottom five finish in the overall standings as they are in the way early stages of their new rebuild.
The Sox can’t think this series will be easy or they will lose. But, they can see it as an opportunity to get back to playing the good baseball we know they can play. This is also a series that will feature ace Lucas Giolito on the second game. Hopefully, this is the kind of series that finds the Sox back in the win category more often than not and they get back on track.
