Sign Taj Gibson for front court depth

Speaking of adding guys whom fit what Boylen is trying to create in Chicago, what better option off the bench would there be than former Bull Taj Gibson? First of all, let’s not pretend like Gibson wouldn’t sell a few more tickets. Fans loved him — and still do. Gibson’s return would make fans happy; plain and simple.

Although he is entering his 11th season in the NBA, Gibson has plenty to offer. He’s still an athletic, long and physical big man who plays tough defense and hits the glass hard. Most impressively, Gibson has actually enjoyed his two most efficient shooting seasons over the last couple of years (56.6 and 57.7 percent shooting, respectively) with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Early on in his career, Gibson played the role of sixth man. In the second half of his career, though, he’s gotten the opportunity to start. If he was fine with coming back to Chicago and playing the sixth man role yet again, Gibson would be a valuable addition. He would also come cheaper than a lot of other guys available.
