Chicago Bulls Draft: Under the radar point guard prospects
By Ryan Heckman
Justin Robinson, Virginia Tech
There are several point guards in this draft who may end up taking a while in finding a long-term home, but could benefit from a two-way contract. Justin Robinson falls into that category, although he has a lot to be excited about.
The best part about Robinson is that he worked on his craft every single year, and it was evident. The proof is in the pudding, as they say, and Robinson’s year-over-year improvement is impressive.
Every season in his collegiate career, Robinson improved two key areas: Three-point and free throw percentage. In 2018-2019, his three-point shot rose to a 41.8 percent clip and went over 81 percent at the free throw line.
Last season, Robinson put up 13.5 points, 5.0 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. While he isn’t a night-in, night-out scorer, he showed he has the ability to explode here and there.
Robinson’s best game last year came in a big win over Syracuse, where he ended the night with 35 points, eight assists and only three turnovers in 37 minutes as his Hokies won in a route, 78-56.
