Who is the NFL’s fastest man? Two Chicago Bears will try to earn that designation.

The Chicago Bears have a couple of players who will compete for the title of the NFL’s fastest man. Currently, the race is scheduled to be held on June 29th, and it will be hosted by an organization called 40 Yards of Gold.

There are currently 28 players who will compete in a tournament-style competition in which two players will run the 40-yard dash head to head until a winner is crowned.

The site appears to break down the participants by offense and defense with the goal being that the winner from the offensive bracket will square off against the winner of the defensive bracket to crown the NFL’s true fastest man.

Of the 28 participants, only 26 have currently Been identified. The website lists two “mystery participants,” on each on offense and defense.

Fans can vote for their favorite player or the player who they think will win at 40yardsofgold.com. The voting will determine seeding for the prime time event which will no doubt be for a shekel or two as well as league bragging rights.

Some notable names who thus far will be competing are Alvin Kamara, Corey Coleman, Trae Waynes, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Ted Ginn Jr., and Kareem Hunt.

For Bears fans, there are two names that will sound familiar and draw some interest. Of course the first is Tarik Cohen, the backfield burner who will make up the “C” in the Bears new “Run D-M-C” backfield.

The other player is defensive back, and star of “Last Chance U,” John Franklin III.

One Bears speedster who is noticeably absent from the list is Taylor “Turbo” Gabriel, who playfully traded Twitter barbs with Cohen last year over who was the fastest player on the team. Apparently Gabriel will be unable to participate in the event due to a prior commitment.

Depending on the outcome of the competition, Gabriel may want a shot at Cohen or Franklin for bragging rights of who’s the fastest man on the team, or potentially even in the entire league. Stay tuned for what should be a really fun event!
