The Chicago White Sox are hoping they are almost done with their rebuild. This 2019 MLB Draft might give them a solid piece to get closer to that goal.

The Chicago White Sox are heading into an extremely important time in their franchise’s history. They have taken their roster and blew it up and completely built up what they currently have from the bottom up. It all started when they traded their superstar ace starting pitcher, Chris Sale. In return, they acquired some prospects that they believed would help them in the future led by Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopech.

From that day forward, they traded away all of their notable everyday players and pitchers and now the returned prospects are starting to come in one-by-one and make major impacts. There are also a few drafted players that are making an impact at the Major League level along with them. Needless to say, the White Sox have a bright future led by the organizational depth at most positions. The best part about it is they are all young. The two best overall players on the White Sox right now are Yoan Moncada (trade for Sale) and Tim Anderson (draft).

Now there is another phase to completing this rebuild and that is the 2019 MLB Draft where the White Sox will make the third overall pick. It is very important that they nail this draft from top to bottom and add even more organizational depth to an already loaded system as some of these guys graduate to the next level. These young prospects can also be used at any time to make big time trades if there were a position of need once the White Sox are ready to compete for the World Series.

The first five rounds will be interesting for the Chicago White Sox and here is where they will be picking in each of those rounds:

  • First Round: 3rd overall
  • Second Round: 45th overall
  • Third Round: 81st overall
  • Fourth Round: 110th overall
  • Fifth Round: 140th overall

Ryan Sikes and I have a mock selection for each of those rounds for the White Sox. We will each make our selections and see how close we are to what they actually do.
