Chicago Bulls Rumors: 4 reasons to trade for Lonzo Ball

3. No. 7 pick isn’t guaranteed
Let us just face the facts, already. The 2019 NBA Draft Lottery was far from the night we were hoping for as Bulls fans. We had hoped for, at the very least, a top-4 pick. After all, the Bulls ended with the league’s fourth-worst record overall. It only made sense.

After falling all the way back to seven, now the Bulls are looking at a bunch of hopefuls. The best chance they had at securing a big time point guard prospect was if Vanderbilt’s Darius Garland fell. With rumors that Garland received a promise from the Phoenix Suns, who pick one spot ahead of Chicago, that idea looks bleak.
So, where do they go from here? Now, it’s likely Coby White out of North Carolina whim fans are hoping for. White is the next-best point guard after Garland, and he offers a lot of intrigue. He looks as though he could become a solid point guard as a pro, but like most prospects who fall out of the top five, there are holes in his game.
The Bulls could try trading back and targeting a guy like Carsen Edwards out of Purdue, but Edwards is also a bit of a project — and is much different than White, or even Ball.
The seven spot offers no guarantee. Sure, Ball offers no guarantee to become a star. But, he’s at least become established more so than Dunn. The Bulls not only have to do what’s best at the position, but what’s possible.
