Chicago Bulls Rumors: 4 reasons to trade for Lonzo Ball
By Ryan Heckman
1. Immediate Upgrade
The first reason this move makes sense is pretty simple. Ball is an immediate upgrade over Kris Dunn. Some may not agree, and go with the “potential” argument with Dunn. But, that argument is tiresome, and Dunn hasn’t progressed like the Bulls had hoped.

Ball is a bigger guard than Dunn, giving him an advantage on the defensive end. Everyone wants to talk about Dunn becoming a great perimeter defender, but thus far, he hasn’t reached that status. Don’t get me wrong, Dunn is a good defender, but not great.
I like Ball because he focuses more on two main things. First, he puts a lot into the defensive end. Because of his size, he’s an attractive option defensively and is an above-average rebounder (over five per game last year).
Not only that, but Ball is a pass-first point guard. At times, Dunn tried too hard and forced shots. But, when the Bulls are healthy, they don’t need a ton of scoring out of their point guard. Ball looks to facilitate, and that’s what the Bulls need.
