Chicago Bears: Mitchell Trubisky and the complete list of quarterback tiers
By Ryan Heckman
Borderline Elite
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
If you throw 50 touchdown passes in a season, there is no chance you’re considered below this tier. In fact, if Patrick Mahomes has another stellar season in 2019, he’ll quickly catapult himself into the elite category.
Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts

There weren’t many better stories in 2018 than Andrew Luck. Some were unsure if he’d ever throw a football again, at one point. He came back with a vengeance last year, and when healthy, remains one of the best quarterbacks in football.
Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
Like Luck, Ben Roethlisberger had glaring questions around him in the last couple of years. Some thought he was ready to retire and even the man himself questioned if he still “had it.” Roethlisberger is still playing at a high level and is a pure winner. He’s darn close to elite.
Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers
He’s one of the most underrated quarterbacks of his era. Philip Rivers is as consistent as it gets, numbers-wise. He’s had several teams ravaged by injuries and seems to always have them in a position to win games.
