Kirk Cousins – QB, Vikings (Balon Greyjoy)

Balon Greyjoy is a proclaimed King of the Iron Islands. He is also the head of House Greyjoy. The Greyjoys are one of the Great Houses of the realm but lost a lot of influence after Balon declared himself a king. After a failed rebellion where he saw his two eldest sons killed, his only other son, Theon, was taken hostage to keep Balon in line.

Remember when Kirk Cousins gave us, “you like that”? Well, it seems that might have been the end for him. He saw a big payday with the first-ever, fully-guaranteed contract from the Minnesota Vikings in 2018. Cousins was brought in to be the anointed King of the Vikings and lead a 2017 playoff team into the Super Bowl in 2018.

Like Balon Greyjoy, declaring Cousins the King of the Vikings failed miserably. In 2017 the Vikings were 13-3 with Case Keenum leading the way. In 2018, the Vikings and Kirk Cousins failed to make the playoffs by going 8-7-1.

The connection continues since Vikings are known for voyaging and sailing. Vikings were ambitious and ruthless too. Balon Greyjoy and those of the Iron Islands are also ambitious and ruthless. They also are known for being able to navigate the seas. King of the Vikings and King of the Iron Islands is like saying the same thing.
