Chicago Bears: Free agents still worth adding following draft

4. S Tre Boston
Safety is one position that the Bears will need to address next offseason. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has been signed to a one-year deal so there’s no guarantee that he’s back in 2020. This means that the Bears next Strong Safety likely isn’t on the roster. This is where Tre Boston fits into the picture.
A veteran who is a former fourth-round pick, Boston is heading into his sixth season in the NFL. Over the last two years, he’s totaled 158 tackles over the last two seasons. Since the market for safeties is down, he’d be a player who could end up signing a cheap, two-year deal and be the with the Bears through at least 2020.
A two-year deal for both sides makes sense due to the fact that if the Bears cannot retain Ha Ha Clinton-Dix next offseason, then Boston provides them with a stopgap solution until the team can figure things out long-term.
While Boston has been on three teams over the last five years, he’s proven that when he’s utilized in the right manner, he can be someone who produces at a high level. This is another bargain player the Bears could take a chance on and not lose much.
