Chicago Bears: Free agents still worth adding following draft

2. OLB Nick Perry
One name that the Bears are familiar with is outside linebacker Nick Perry due to the fact that Perry spent seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers. While Perry has had durability issues throughout his career, he’s a player the Bears could bring in for a tryout and not lose anything.
The last time Perry was fully healthy, he notched 11 sacks and split time at left outside linebacker and right outside linebacker. Bringing him in on a tryout basis would merely mean that the team gives him a chance to compete against someone like Aaron Lynch. Essentially, one could even argue that Perry would be competing against guys like Isaiah Irving and Kylie Fitts for roster spots.
Perry won’t blow you away with his skillset, however, he is known for getting after the quarterback. With 46 quarterback hits and 37 tackles for loss in his career, it’s clear that when he gets an opportunity to blow up plays, he will.
On the Bears, Perry would fit solely as an outside linebacker. To have him play defensive end wouldn’t be an ideal as that is not his natural fit within any defensive scheme. Due to his extensive injury history, Perry’s contract would be one where there is little to no guaranteed money.
