Chicago Cubs: 3 potential trades with Toronto Blue Jays

Trade Number Three: Cubs add their lights-out closer
The Cubs don’t need any position more than they need a closer. The bullpen as a whole has been a major issue all season, as the back-end of the bullpen especially has not been anything special or reliable.
Fortunately, the Blue Jays could be in the market to deal their closer, who happens to be one of the best in the league.
Ken Giles has saved eight games this year and has an earned run average under two. Giles is under control for two more seasons and would be a great long-term upgrade for the Cubs.
In order to pry Giles from the Blue Jays, the Cubs would need to give up quite a bit.
First, they’d have to give up their top pitching prospect, Brailyn Marquez. Marquez is in Single-A but would be a solid candidate to progress at least one more level this year, and would be in line to make his debut by 2021. Marquez is a high-upside lefty that carries series trade value.
Next is Richard Gallardo. Gallardo is just 17 years old and has not pitched in a professional game. However, Gallardo has serious upside and was the Cubs top-ranked International Free Agent signing during last season’s signing period.
The final piece of the deal is Addison Russell. Russell should be on the trade block after being sent to Triple-A following the conclusion of his 30-game suspension for domestic violence, and the Blue Jays could be in the market for a shortstop.

Russell has a long way to go before major league baseball fully accepts him, but getting a fresh start would be a nice first step in that process.
