Chicago Cubs: 3 potential trades with Toronto Blue Jays
With the Toronto Blue Jays announcing that they will take offers for their star players, could the Chicago Cubs be in the market for an upgrade?
With the exception of the first two weeks of the season, I think we can agree that this Chicago Cubs team has performed close to what we all expected.
However, in arguably the most competitive division in all of baseball, the Cubs 18-14 start won’t cut it, especially with the St. Louis Cardinals in first place.

Thus far, the Cubs have seen above-average play from their lineup, particularly the outfielders, as well as expected high levels of contribution from their normal stars.
As for the rotation, which got off to a horrible start, the Cubs hurlers are starting to settle in. The front four of the Cubs rotation looks as good as any group in the majors, as the Cubs look one starter away from putting together a premier pool of pitchers.
The bullpen is a completely different story. While the ‘pen as settled down after an absolutely atrocious start, the Cubs should not feel confident in their relief pitching at all. The Cubs are at least two solid relievers away from having a respectable bullpen and should be in the market to add an arm or two or three as we speak.
Luckily for the Cubs, both of their chief concerns can be solved with a couple of trades. One team, in particular, the Toronto Blue Jays, could be the ideal trade partner for the Cubs. In the opening stages of their rebuild, the Blue Jays are looking to deal their top remaining players, some of which would fit the Cubs needs sufficiently.
While the asking prices will vary based on the player, the Blue Jays offer multiple options to fit the Cubs’ needs. Given the timing of the Blue Jays apparent fire sale opening, the Cubs could and should jump on a trade soon.
With that being said, here are three potential trades that the Cubs could make with the Toronto Blue Jays.
