Chicago Bears: Projected 53-man roster following 2019 NFL Draft
By Ryan Heckman
Defensive Line
Akiem Hicks
It felt like after his stellar 2018 season, Akiem Hicks finally started getting the long-awaited respect he deserved. He’s been a stud for much longer than just a year, and in 2019 he’ll look to continue proving it.
Eddie Goldman
Speaking of finally earning respect, Eddie Goldman still doesn’t receive enough praise for how much he does to plug up the opposition’s run game. He’s one of the best nose tackles in the game, hands down.
Bilal Nichols
The second-year man Bilal Nichols came on strong over the second half of last season, and looks to have carved out a significant role within the defensive line. As a fifth-round pick from a smaller school, Nichols had to prove his worth. He certainly did that.
Roy Robertson-Harris
I know there are many fans excited over Roy Robertson-Harris coming back. He’s always been a physical specimen, and finally seemed to break out last year. He and Nichols will likely share a lot of time on the same end.
Jonathan Bullard
The last guy I see making the team (and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was cut, either) is Jonathan Bullard. He hasn’t become the type of player the Bears envisioned, and already you’ve seen a fifth-rounder take up much of his playing time, in Nichols.
