Trade Package Number Two

This trade package is very similar to the previous one, except in this one, the White Sox part with talent that is not as close to the major leagues as in the package before.

The centerpiece of the deal is Luis Alexander Basabe. Acquired from the Boston Red Sox during the 2016 Winter Meetings, Basabe has put up solid numbers in his White Sox career. Now in Double-A, Basabe is off to a slow start after a great 2018 season that saw him hit a home run in the All Star Futures Game. Basabe would not be a desirable piece to deal for the Sox, but given the scenario, they might have to give up Basabe to get Stroman.

Bernardo Flores is perhaps the most under-appreciated White Sox prospect in their entire farm system. The finessee southpaw has put up great numbers since being drafted in 2016, and is on the fast track to the major leagues in Double-A. Given how packed the White Sox future rotation looks, Flores lacks the explosiveness to be given a fair chance, and therefore would be a realistic trade chip in deals such as this one.

Finally, the Blue Jays would finish this deal by taking a chance on young Bryce Bush. Bush had a spectacular 2018 season after being drafted out of high school in the later rounds, and is in the back half of the White Sox top-30 prospects list. Bush has raw potential, but is on the rise, and could be a target for the Blue Jays.

Like the last trade, this one would involve the White Sox giving up a couple of players that they might not be ready to give up. However, you must give up good players to get good players, and if the White Sox want to commit to winning, a package like this one must be executed.
