Chicago White Sox call up Luis Robert to AA
The Chicago White Sox might have another future star on their hands and now they will give him an opportunity to move up in the organization to AA ball.
The Chicago White Sox are taking another step in developing what they hope to be a future star. Luis Robert had an incredible start to the 2019 season in high A ball for the Winston-Salem Dash. He will now report to Birmingham along with 2016 White Sox first round pick Zack Burdi. Robert was absolutely on fire in his 19 games so far this season.
In those 19 games, he had a slash line of .453/.512/.920 and had 8 home runs, 24 RBIs, and 8 stolen bases. It got to the point where it was too easy for him and it was time to call him up. The length of his stay in AA is to be determined but he likely will continue to dominate there and could be called up to AAA to play for the Charlotte Knights quickly. Some people believe his Major League debut isn’t that far away but a safe goal is to play some AAA ball this summer.
He signed with the White Sox with all of the raw talents you would want out of a teenager and we are seeing him put it all together right in front of our eyes. He was ready to play for Birmingham out of spring training but his lack of minor league experience (only 45 games in 2018) forced the team to start him in high A. It didn’t take too long for them to bring him to AA. He is currently sitting in the 37th rank of MLB Pipeline’s top prospects but some guys on there are going to graduate to no longer being considered prospects soon.
The White Sox are hoping that Robert will one day be one of their best players. They are already getting results out of Yoan Moncada, Eloy Jimenez, and Tim Anderson among others and they hope that Robert will be no different. Look for Robert to seize this opportunity and be ready to move up again soon enough.
