Chicago Bears: Pro comparisons for each 2019 draft pick
Round 3 Pick 73
RB David Montgomery
NFL Comparison: Ezekiel Elliot
The Chicago Bears made a bit of a splash in this draft. It is something they’ve become known to do over the last few years, and that is to trade up in the draft to get their guy. They made a trade with the New England Patriots to move up from 87 to 73 in the third round of this draft to select Iowa State running back David Montgomery.

This is the second year in a row that they made a draft-day trade with the Patriots so you know they wanted to get their guy. Montgomery certainly will be able to come in and make an impact on the offense.
There are a few NFL comparisons for his type of play. The one that sticks out the most is Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot. Elliot is one of the best running backs in the entire National Football League so if Montgomery is anything like him in style and production once he reaches the pro game the Bears will be in good shape.
The way the Elliot is able to hesitate at the line of scrimmage before breaking out his run and shake tackles is what makes Montgomery similar to Elliot. Hopefully, he could come through and be similar. Elliot was a really high draft pick, but that doesn’t mean Montgomery can’t be a similar running back to him. Both offer the type of patience and relentlessness running the ball, and Pace has to have liked that.
