Chicago Bears Draft: Get to know the team’s offensive UDFAs
By Ryan Sikes
The Chicago Bears have loaded up on offensive lineman in the undrafted free agent market. Notre Dame’s Sam Mustipher is another notable name.
Sam Mustipher – C (Notre Dame)
The Chicago Bears signed Sam Mustipher out of Notre Dame. He was snubbed an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine despite being a Rimington Trophy Finalist, which is given to college football’s best center.
Notre Dame teammates credit Mustipher with making the transition from quarterback Brandon Wimbush to Ian Book so seamless.
"“Sam was the best center in college football last year,” Irish right tackle Robert Hainsey says."
Mustipher might have a tough time making the Bears roster with Cody Whitehair locking down the center position, but he could provide valuable depth at the position if needed.
Marquez Tucker – OG (Southern Utah)
Tucker has solid size for a guard, listed at 6′-1″ and 300 pounds. He played in all 11 games in the 2018 season and was named to the second-team All-Big Sky in 2017.
He had 31 reps on the bench press at his local pro day, which caught the eyes of scouts.
Joe Lowery – OL (Ohio University)
The redshirt junior played in 38 games during his three seasons at Ohio University. He is a big guy, listed at 6′-7″ and weighing 305 pounds. Lowery was part of the offensive line group that paved the way for a rushing attack that was ranked ninth best in terms of rushing yards per game.
