Chicago Bears: Best available players on Day 3
If the Bears do not go with a defensive back, outside linebacker is an area I could see them looking into. Christian Miller played with a lot of talented players, but never really stood out. In fact, he did not even start the majority of the games he played while in college.
Miller had a breakout season his senior year. He played in 14 games, but only started in four of them. Despite the lack of playing time, he finished with 11 tackles for loss and eight sacks. Coming to Chicago would be ideal for the young pass rusher. He would not have to start but could come in during pass rush situations. He would also be learning from Khalil Mack and Leonard Floyd.
Teams are obviously concerned about his one season of production and the fact he could not break into a full-time starting role. Nevertheless, Miller has the length and speed to succeed in the NFL. Somewhat of a project, but another toy Chuck Pagano would love to play with I am sure.
Miller will need to bulk up more and gain strength to continue his success onto the NFL level. This is something I am sure the Bears training staff can help accomplish. They had a similar issue with Leonard Floyd coming into the league, and he is doing just fine in this area.
With the added mass and strength in his lower body, Miller would be able to improve his ability to take on blockers. Too often he relies on his speed to cut through lanes or go wide around a guy. This is another reason he continues to fall but should be coming off the board soon.
