The end is nigh for our Chicago Bears. And, no, I’m not making a convoluted reference to Game of Thrones.

Year after year, the NFL Draft really feels like it’s an early Christmas at a soft spot in what usually seems to be a silly offseason. Each year the NFL continues to market and monetize it as a major event on their calendar. For the Chicago Bears, this one is a little bit different from the norm.

Last night marked the first time since 2010 that the Chicago did not have a first-round selection. That was due to the infamous Jay Cutler deal. Instead, the front office got to watch Khalil Mack highlights and see what directions their league-wide counterparts were going in.

Chicago’s wait will soon come to an end tonight.

But the Bears don’t pick for a while and that makes their mock drafts difficult to forecast. There is for sure a pool of about 60 or so players who they probably aren’t going to get an opportunity to pick at 87, but shocking draft-day slides always seem to happen.

Point being, determining who they take at their first selection at 87 is a lot easier said than done. You pretty much need to dart throw who the first 86 players who go before are before coming up with a reasonable prediction.

On that note, for the lone mock draft I’ll be squeezing in at the 11th hour this year, I’m going to do my best to hit everything all at once. Don’t expect any shocking trades because guessing what Ryan Pace wants to do with weaker draft capital is very challenging.
