1. Safety or running back will be the Bears pick in the third round

Despite signing Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Mike Davis to add to the Safety and Running Back positions, using a draft pick on a safety or running back needs to happen for the Bears. Both Clinton-Dix and Davis aren’t in the long-term plans of the Bears, which means the Bears will have to replace them eventually.

The reasoning behind adding a safety is simple: The Bears will need to pay Eddie Jackson a big contract soon and in order to be able to afford Jackson, the team will need to ensure that they have a safety on a rookie contract.

In the third round, at both positions, the Bears should look for value and then decide what route to go. If the team feels that running back has more value, then adding a guy like Miles Sanders could be the way to go. However, if the team wants a versatile safety, then adding someone like Iowa’s Amani Hooker could be the best route for the team to take.

As of right now, the Bears have multiple options in the third round. Unless the team is totally in love with players at positions other than running back or safety, then addressing one of these two needs must happen first. Waiting till later could potentially mean the Beas miss out on who their target really is.
