2. Running backs to know and why it is a need
It’s no secret that the Bears are going to add a running back in this years NFL Draft. The team has been doing its homework on every running back that they possibly can. From meeting with the top prospects like Miles Sanders (Penn State) to guys who could be available on day three like Bryce Love (Stanford), one thing is clear: There’s primed to be a new face in the Bears backfield this year.
After signing Mike Davis, the Bears shipped out Jordan Howard. The signing of Davis, although viewed as questionable to some, was due to the biggest fact that Davis has the skillset that fits Matt Nagy’s offense.
Another reason the Bears need to add a running back is because Mike Davis and Tarik Cohen, although both excellent players haven’t shown the ability to be workhorse running backs for the Bears. Cohen, due to his versatility, is going to be lined up all over the field for the Bears, while Davis is going to be someone who could end up being a situational player for the Bears.
There are five names to keep an eye on for when the Bears are on the clock in the third round:
- Miles Sanders, Penn State
- Mike Weber, Ohio State
- Devin Singletary, Florida Atlantic University
- Bryce Love, Stanford
- Bruce Anderson, North Dakota State
We’ll breakdown each of these players and why they could be a good fit for the Bears. Additionally, we’ll talk about what rounds each of them could potentially be available in.
