14. Lukas Denis, Safety, Boston College

With eight interceptions over his last two seasons, Lukas Denis displays the ability to be a ballhawk at the NFL level. As Denis prepares for the NFL Draft, he’s going to be one of the most polarizing prospects for a number of reasons.

Watching Denis’s tape from 2017, he managed to total seven interceptions and broke up ten passes. Essentially, he looked like he was a player on the rise. Had he declared for the 2018 NFL Draft, he likely would’ve ended up being a day two pick. While he does have good ball tracking skills, he needs to learn to be more consistent.

In 2018, Denis fell off the charts, his production declined. With just one interception in 2018, his stock has now slipped to being a day three pick. Even then, Denis brings some interesting attributes to the table.

Denis the type of player who will excel in the NFL as a single-high safety, but will need at least one season to add muscle to his frame before being able to be considered a full-time starter. Another area where he could improve is tackling. There are times where Denis attacks the ball carrier aggressively and times where he just looks like he’s wondering if he should make a play or not.

Denis does have what it takes to be an above average player at his position in the NFL, however, he’ll need to work on his tackling, processing skills, and add more muscle to his frame. If he can fine-tune parts of his under Chuck Pagano, he has a shot to be a stud if drafted by the Bears.
