The Chicago Bears have solid depth at the wide receiver position and the San Francisco 49ers are a little light. A trade for Javon Wims would make a lot of sense.

The Chicago Bears added some nice depth at the wide receiver position this offseason in Cordarrelle Patterson, Marvin Hall, Jr., and could potentially add another in the draft. The 49ers let Pierre Garcon walk in free agency and could use another wide receiver for depth.

Javon Wims was used very little in his rookie season, but played a decent amount in the final game of the season in Minnesota. The former seventh-round pick out of Georgia hauled in four receptions for 32 yards in that game. He figured to be the fourth wide receiver on the depth chart this season, but that was prior to adding Patterson and Hall. There might not be enough touches to go around, so Wims is my odd man out.

The 49ers didn’t have a ton of production in receiving outside of tight end George Kittle last season, but that was likely because of the talent at the quarterback position. At any rate, another wide receiver wouldn’t hurt for them and the Bears get their kicker.

This trade has real potential to get done. I find it odd that Robbie Gould was in the process of negotiating a long-term deal and suddenly requested a trade. You have to wonder if the Bears told him they would trade for him if he requested one. That is pure speculation, but which trade package are you in favor of?
