Chicago Bears: Round 3 targets in 2019 NFL Draft
By Ryan Heckman
Running Back Miles Sanders, Penn State
The Bears aren’t necessarily hurting at running back, but they definitely aren’t set just yet. After trading Jordan Howard to the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago’s back field consists of Tarik Cohen, Mike Davis and Ryan Nall.
While signing Davis was a strong move, he may not necessarily be the true no. 1 guy to pair with Cohen. He’s a strong do-it-all back, but if the Bears could land a kid like Miles Sanders, their back field would be complete — and dangerous.
Sanders is another do-it-all type of back who has the size and speed combination many coaches dream of. He can catch the football out of the back field and has the athleticism to not only make guys miss, but jump over them altogether — kind of like his former teammate, Saquon Barkley.
While Sander’s isn’t Barkley, he definitely took the reins last year at Penn State, rushing for 1,274 yards and nine scores.
Sanders isn’t a future Pro Bowler at first glance, but his potential as the go-to guy in Nagy’s offense is there.
