The Chicago Bears will welcome the league’s Most Valuable Player to Soldier Field in Week 16.

The Chicago Bears will have their final measuring stick. This time against one of the best AFC teams and in Week 16 of the 2019 season and on Sunday Night Football. It’s the classic mentor versus protege as Bears head coach Matt Nagy will be facing off against his old boss in Andy Reid.

Matt Nagy was first hired by Andy Reid as a coaching intern with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2008. When Reid left Philadelphia to take the Kansas City Chiefs head coaching position, Nagy followed him. He eventually worked his way up to offensive coordinator before taking the Bears head coaching position.

It will also be a match-up of 2017 NFL top ten draft picks in quarterbacks Mitchell Trubisky and Patrick Mahomes. In what could be a potential Super Bowl preview, the Bears and Chiefs figure to be among the best in their respective conferences. The Bears will have to find a way to slow down the reigning MVP as Mahomes put up over 5,000 passing yards and 50 touchdowns in the 2018 season.

The Chiefs added former Texans and Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu as well as former Packers defensive back Bashaud Breeland in free agency. They added where they could, but they will certainly be lacking in the pass rush department as both Justin Houston and Dee Ford signed elsewhere. Depending on the outcome of his potential domestic abuse case, the Bears will have to game plan to slow down Tyreek Hill as well.

Running back Damien Williams figures to be the guy in the Chiefs backfield after a terrific showing in the postseason. He is also a terrific receiver out of the backfield hauling in 23 receptions for 160 yards, so the Bears will need to account for him as well.
