Chicago Bears Mock Draft 5.0: Not sexy, but worth it
By Ryan Heckman
Round 7, Pick 238
The average Bears fan would react, “Who on earth is Donald Parham?”
Ryan Pace’s response would be: “Exactly,” whilst a smile creeps across his face.
Now, I know what some may be thinking right now. Yes, Pace did draft Adam Shaheen a couple of years ago. Shaheen came from a Division II program in Ashland, and Parham comes from another small program in Stetson. The biggest difference, of course, is that Shaheen was selected in the second round — a huge gamble with high draft capital.
Parham, though, would be well-worth the pick in the seventh round. He absolutely dominated in 2018.
No, really. He crushed his last season before declaring for the draft.
Parham finished with 85 receptions, 1,319 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2018. The kid is 6-foot-8 and an incredible athlete. Parham is a big target with enormous leaping ability and soft hands. His long strides allow him to cover a ton of ground in a hurry, while using basketball-like moves to get open and go up to grab jump balls.
There really isn’t much of a gamble taking Parham in the seventh round, and he’ll have to work on adding a little weight while improving his usage as a blocker. But, that’s not what he’s going to be drafted for. Parham is really a large receiver with ridiculous athleticism, and the idea of seeing what Nagy could do with him is highly intriguing.
