Chicago Bears Mock Draft 5.0: Not sexy, but worth it
By Ryan Heckman
In our fifth edition of the 2019 NFL Mock Draft for the Chicago Bears, we focus on positional depth above all else and predict some not-so-sexy selections.
As the Chicago Bears inch further and further away from a disappointing end to what was an incredible 2018 season, they also inch closer to the 2019 NFL Draft. With this year’s draft just eight days away, general manager Ryan Pace knows this could end up being hist most impressive draft yet.
Just how would it end up being his most impressive draft yet? Well, for starters, the Bears only have five picks. By now, you probably know that. They don’t begin picking until the third round, which will make it tougher on Pace to bring in elite talent. However, this isn’t anything new to Pace. He’s known for making some of his best selections in the middle rounds — just ask Eddie Jackson and Tarik Cohen.
Many fans believe they know exactly what the Bears’ positional needs are at the moment, but in all reality, they are pretty well set — at least, when it comes to their starters on offense and defense.
Before we dive into this mock, I’ll have you know that it isn’t pretty. And, fair warning, for those wanting a kicker in the late rounds, don’t hold your breath. That’s something worth addressing via the undrafted free agent poo.
There is no home-run pick in this mock, but the guys involved are well-worth drafting. They’ll not only help the Bears right now, but for years to come. Who do you think the Bears should target in the third round? I’d be willing to bet it’s not this first guy. If it is, well, great minds think alike, I suppose. Let’s get to it.
