Chicago Bulls: 2019 NBA Draft Lottery odds, first round mock
By Ryan Heckman
No. 6 overall: Point Guard Coby White, North Carolina
This may be somewhat of a reach, but like I said previously, it gets tough outside of the top five. Many would want Cam Reddish at this pick, and I wouldn’t fault them for that. Actually, I almost stuck Reddish here instead of Coby White.
However, the opportunity to get a guy like White in efforts to fill the void at point guard is too good to pass up. On a star-studded North Carolina roster, White was the catalyst along with Nassir Little. Over the course of this last season, White averaged 16.1 points on 42 percent shooting and dished out 4.1 assists per game.
He can shoot the ball effectively from outside (35 percent last season) and possesses above-average defense at the position.
White may not be a future superstar point guard, but he is a pretty safe bet to have a long NBA career. As a pro, on the Bulls, he’d have a few more offensive weapons at his disposal. White can score, which is much-needed at the NBA level as I’ve said. But, he can indeed facilitate and may find it even easier to do so with scorers like LaVine, Porter and Markkanen surrounding him.
