Chicago Bulls: 2019 NBA Draft Lottery odds, first round mock
By Ryan Heckman
No. 1 overall: Forward Zion Williamson, Duke
The obvious first overall pick in this year’s draft is going to be forward Zion Williamson out of Duke. At this stage, there is nothing stopping him from being the top selection. Any team drafting first overall is going to land Zion, period.
How would he fit in with the Bulls, though? Well, it’s easy to say that after drafting Williamson is when they’ll figure that out. He offers you everything you’d want in a forward. Williamson can play down low as well as the wing. He’s a phenomenal defensive player, too. Look, I don’t need to say much about Zion. If you’re a basketball fan, you know what this kid brings to the table. He’ll change the course of the Bulls immediately.
The biggest question going forward is where he’ll play. Would they decide to stick him at small forward, or maybe even move Lauri Markkanen to that spot? There is no way they trade Markkanen, of course, and it’s unlikely they’d move either one to center — that position belongs to Wendell Carter Jr.
Like I said, for the Bulls, it’s a “Act now, think later” situation. Williamson is the pick, hands down. Boylen can figure out his lineup at a later date. The most important thing is, the Bulls will have landed the draft’s best player if they win the lottery.
