Edge Rusher Shane Ray

Leading up to the offseason and free agency, in particular, Shane Ray was someone we have talked about quite a bit here. Coming out of Missouri, Ray looked like a stud pass rusher who was going to help make that vaunted Denver Broncos defense even better a few years back.

Like many guys on this list, Ray has struggled with injuries. He has really only had one strong season as a pro, which was back in 2016 where he totaled 8.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.

Aside from 2016, Ray hasn’t done a whole lot at the NFL level. But, again, the Bears aren’t looking for a starter. They have Aaron Lynch backing up Khalil Mack and Leonard Floyd, along with Isaiah Irving waiting in the wing. Ray would come in as the no. 4 pass rusher, most likely, and solidify the depth there.

Most recently, Ray visited the Oakland Raiders, who are still left wondering what they are going to do with their pass rush. The last bit of news had him leaving without a deal, so if he doesn’t get in with Oakland of all teams, I wonder just how cheap he’d come for Chicago, then.
