Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Round 4 best case scenarios
By Ryan Heckman
Running Back Justice Hill, Oklahoma State
I have said on many occasions that I would be satisfied with several backs in this year’s class. It is such a deep running back class for what the Bears are looking for — a non-bell cow back. For the Bears, it’s all about getting that third back who will complement the other two well. If Justice Hill is still on the board when the Bears are about to pick in the fourth round, he has to be the pick.
Maybe this is a scenario where I watch some tape, followed by studying his Combine performance and simply go, “Wow.” But, Hill has the chance to be a special back within the Bears offense.
Just look at his Combine highlights:
40-yard dash: 4.40 seconds
Bench Press: 21 reps
Vertical Jump: 40.0 inches
Broad Jump: 130.0 inches
Sure, the Combine isn’t everything. But, what does matter is coaching and offensive fit. The Bears love speed and athleticism. That’s why they have built an offense with guys like Tarik Cohen, Anthony Miller, Taylor Gabriel and Marvin Hall.
Hill is lightning fast while being able to leap like Saquon Barkley if need be. The fact that Hill is projected to be a third or fourth rounder is crazy, but it’s mainly because of the smaller, more intricate reasons why the aforementioned Williams is going to succeed as a pro.
Hill needs to be better about being patient and using a little more structure to how he runs the ball. At times, it looks like he doesn’t really have a plan. But, that’s where it’ll be up to Nagy and company to coach him up. Physically, he has all the tools.
If the Bears are picking in the fourth round and any of these guys are on the board, do not be surprised if one of them ends up in Chicago. This could be an ideal fourth round for Pace if he comes away with any of them.
