Chicago White Sox: Positives and negatives as the homestand continues
Positives
The White Sox had some positives to look at in this series with the Mariners. They had some individuals show up as expected and perform the way they need to to win some games. Their top guys are going to need to be their top guys and at times they were in this series.

Yoan Moncada got the series off the way that he started the season. He has been brilliant so far this season and it really looks like he has arrived. Without him, they would not have gotten a win in game one of the series. He went 2-4 with four RBI. He also had a grand slam robbed by Mallex Smith of Seattle. The ball was not caught when it was robbed so he did end up with a two-RBI double out of it. Another good series for Moncada — hopefully, this continues.
Tim Anderson was the best player on either team in this series. This comes in his first series back from paternity leave. He returned and absolutely lit it up. In game one he went 3-4, in game two he went 3-4, and in game three went 4-5. This is absolutely incredible and his start to the season might be underrated if you can believe it. Moncada’s start overshadows it a bit because of the expectations as a highly touted prospect, but Anderson has possibly been the best player overall to begin the season.
Resiliency is another major positive from this series. They were up 6-1 in game one before letting the lead slip away and falling behind 8-6. It would have been really easy to pack it in right there but they rallied and came back to win the game. They were also down big at moments in the second and third games in the series, but they never showed signs of quitting. They have scored some late-inning runs in every game. They always believe they have a chance to win the game even when they are down.
