Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Round 3 best case scenario
By Ryan Heckman
Running back Miles Sanders, Penn State
Miles Sanders comes from a program which had a guy by the name of Saquon Barkley just ahead of him on the depth chart a year ago. Because of that, he didn’t get his chance to shine until last season. He definitely took advantage.
Sanders’ numbers won’t blow you away, but his tape sure will. Like Barkley, Sanders is an athlete and creates a ton of extra yardage with his knack for stepping, juking and leaping past defenders. His vision is already NFL-level and he knows when to be patient with waiting for his blocks to set up.
He doesn’t have that “blow you away” type speed, but Sanders gains his extra yardage in a more creative manner. He’s fast enough, I’ll tell you that. But, he always seems to find a few extra yards on his own terms, without needing to blow past tacklers.
In his one year starting for the Nittany Lions, Sanders ran for 1,274 yards on 220 carries. He has been one to soar up a lot of draft boards over the last month or so, which means the Bears might be lucky to get him in the third. Some mocks even have Sanders going as high as the early second round, while others continue to keep him in the third or fourth rounds.
