Round 3, Pick 87

San Diego State. Kahale Warring. 57. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 3. player. TE

This is where Pace could not only surprise a few people, but firmly address depth at a position that’s been in question this offseason. No one questions whether Trey Burton is right for this offense, but Adam Shaheen is still a work in progress.

The funny thing is, so is Kahale Warring. He’s been soaring up draft boards lately, however, even though he doesn’t have a ton of starting experience in college. Warring is 6-foot-5 and looks like he was put together in a lab. He’s got a lean, strong frame and weighs in at 252 pounds.

His stat sheet won’t blow you out of the water, but watching him play tells you a lot about his game. First of all, Warring is no stranger to blocking and blocking well. He moves fluidly to get to his blocks quickly, and locks in from thereon out.

On the flip side, Warring has a ton of speed to race past the second level and put himself into position to make a play on the ball. He has a strong vertical at 36.5 inches, which reminds everyone he is a former basketball player. Warring runs good routes while keeping his feet quick, and has even had success making plays further down field in the secondary.

If the Bears want to solidify the tight end position, Warring in the third would be a fantastic pick.
